What is an open day?
It’s an opportunity to come onto campus and explore our facilities, teaching areas and accommodation. You’ll get the chance to attend course talks and meet our lecturers, current students and support staff to find out more about us and answer any of your questions.

What to expect
Our open days start at 10am and run until around 3pm – make sure you arrive on time to make the most of your day.
Attend a course talk to meet the lecturers, gain an understanding of your subject and how it works at UoG. Depending on your course, there may be a specialist tour of facilities too.
Also on the day, you can pop along to a range of other talks including some led by our money advice, admissions and accommodation teams.
Led by our student ambassadors, these first, second and third year students will be on-hand to give you the latest advice and guidance on what it’s really like to study here.
Find out anything from the best place for quiet study on campus to the hottest night spots, all from the people who’ve been here and experienced it already.
Our on-campus and off-campus accommodation will be open to view on the day. On campus accommodation is included as part of a campus tour, led by our student ambassadors.
Off-campus accommodation, like Pittville Student Village, Upper Quay and Blackfriars is also open, and we have free shuttle buses running to take you on the short journey to view the accommodation options here.
For some of our courses, you’re required to interview and/or provide a portfolio of your work, but don’t worry – we’re running sessions at our open day to help you prepare, and ask any questions you may have.
Whilst you’re here, why not see what Gloucestershire has to offer students.
Check out the Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham, browse the shops and grab a bite to eat and a drink at one of the many restaurants there.
In Gloucester, take a trip to the Gloucester Food Dock for delicious street food options, and visit Gloucester Quays to bag a bargain at the outlet shops.

We understand that travel costs can be a barrier, especially with the rising cost of living. To help make your visit easier and more affordable, we’re offering support with your journey to our Open Days.

Great Western Railway (GWR) 20% discount
UoG is offering a 20% discount on Great Western Railway (GWR) rail tickets for students travelling to on-campus opens days.
Advance tickets must be booked using this webpage by 6pm the day before travel.
- No code is needed; the discount is applied automatically (subject to availability).
- Fixed-date tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable.
- Need help booking your ticket? Call GWR on 0345 700 0125 (option 3, then option 1).
- Terms and conditions apply – see dropdown for details.
- This offer is only available for travel on GWR services. If you are travelling from or within a region of the country that is not part of this network, then you will need to purchase a separate ticket.
- The destination must be relevant to University of Gloucestershire. For example, Gloucester Station and Cheltenham Spa Station.
- Origin of the journey must be within the GWR network, but please note that Advance Purchase tickets are not available for short-distance journeys.
- The scheme is only available for use with Advance Purchase tickets. These set times and dates of travel are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
- The Open Days GWR travel offer is available for the dates provided by University of Gloucestershire and the week that the event takes place, running from Saturday to the next Sunday. So, stay for more than a day to get a feel for the local scene.
