Miss Penny Adshead

Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management

Prior to working in academia, I held corporate roles in line management and people development within the leisure industry and also spent time as a self-employed L&D consultant working with local businesses in the Midlands and South West.

Biography

I am an experienced professional in teaching HR and HRD and in competence and work-based approaches to learning in business.

Within the undergraduate programmes, I act as a senior tutor supporting all students and tutors, working very closely with the Helpzones in areas of student support.

I specifically teach on business management and HR models across all levels and act as a supervisor for HR dissertations.

Teaching & Research

Teaching

I teach across the management and HR modules on all HR programmes, taking the lead on the skills modules for postgraduate and professional courses, acting as a supervisor for dissertations in the HR field.

Research

Undergraduate and postgraduate supervision focused around flexible working, work-life balance, learning and development and employee engagement in both UK and Kazakh organisations.

Doctoral supervision focused on training in Libya and influence of culture on management in Libya.
