Having been a solicitor in private practice I joined the university as I wished to become an expert in my area of law: public international law. I love inspiring others to be passionate about knowing and using the law for themselves and for others.

After qualifying as a solicitor in 1999, I worked in private practice until 2010 as a litigator, with experience in regulatory law and judicial reviews.  My recent experience is in public international law, an area which is stimulating and hugely topical. The cases I worked on included clients who had been unlawfully detained and harmed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was involved in landmark, cutting edge cases which have extended the application of the European Convention of Human Rights.
