BBC Religion Editor is speaker at Cathedral Lecture 2024

BBC Religion Editor, Aleem Maqbool, will present the Michael Perham University and Cathedral Lecture 2024 at University of Gloucestershire.

Aleem, a former BBC correspondent in Pakistan, the Middle East and North America, was appointed Religion Editor at the corporation in 2022.

The presenter of Beyond Belief on BBC Radio 4, Aleem has an interest in the religious landscape in the UK, especially among young people.

Aleem (pictured left) will present this year’s Michael Perham University and Cathedral Lecture – entitled Faith and the Media – in the Chapel at the University’s Francis Close Hall Campus on Monday, May 13 (7pm to 8.30pm). Admission is free but places must be booked in advance.

The Michael Perham University and Cathedral Lecture series is named in commemoration of Michael Perham. As well as being Bishop of Gloucester, Michael was Pro-Chancellor of University of Gloucestershire for many years, served as Chair of the University Council, and was instrumental in developing closer relationships between the University and the Diocese.
