Film Production graduates win awards from Royal Television Society
University of Gloucestershire Film Production graduates were among the winners and finalists at the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Student Awards 2025.
The highly prestigious awards by the RTS – an educational charity promoting the art and science of television – recognise and celebrate the wealth of talent, creativity and innovation of students and graduates in the region.
The Entertainment and Comedy Drama award was won by a team of six recent University graduates – Alex Russell, Charlotte Davis, Quan Luong, Brandon Apps, Louis Birch and Imogen Christie – for their film, The Face.
The film features a character called Lloyd who finds a rock containing the spirit of an ancient warrior. Lloyd attempts to continue his normal life whilst ignoring the face that appears everywhere he goes, but after being told that he must kill or be killed to resurrect the warrior, this becomes an increasingly impossible task.

This latest achievement follows the success of another group of recent University graduates at the NAHEMI National Student Film Awards, where Lewis Hill, Tom Bradshaw, Kiran Ingham, Meredith Wright, Theo Moules and Joseph Edwards won the Undergraduate Best Overall Film Award for Dragon Lich King.
It is the second year running that a team of University graduates have won the NAHEMI award, competing against all the major films schools in the UK.
The Dragon Lich King team were finalists in the Drama category at the RTS West of England Student Awards 2025, along with Evelyn Wadsworth, Jack Turner, Louis Gibson, Sabina Rosca, Jordan Roger, Jay Thomas and Tabitha Bishop for the film The Creature of Love.
Recent University graduates also won RTS Craft awards, which reward exceptional promise, for storytelling, production design and editing: Jessica Cain, Joseph Edwards, Kiran Ingham, Lewis Hill, Theo Moules, Sabina Rosca, Alex Russell, Brandon Apps and Quan Luong.
All the films were designed and created by the students as part of the Film Production programme delivered by the University’s School of Creative Arts, which features a range of high-tech creative and production facilities.
The winners of this year’s RTS West of England Student Awards, announced at a ceremony in Bristol, go forward to the RTS National Student Awards ceremony in April where they will compete against other regional winners.
Films made on the University’s BA (Hons) Film Production course have a strong track record at RTS National Student Awards ceremonies, with Delicious Love winning Best Comedy in 2019, Dead Canary shortlisted for Best Drama in 2020, Paper Round Boy winning Best Drama in 2021, and Signed Marlo shortlisted for Best Drama in 2022.
Mike Parker, Academic Course Leader for the University’s BA (Hons) Film Production programme, said: “Many congratulations to all our former students who have been recognised by winning awards from the RTS – it’s a fantastic testament to their imagination, creativity and production talent.
“The team involved in The Face should be immensely proud of their achievement in winning the Entertainment and Comedy Drama, and we wish them well at the national awards ceremony in April.”
