Placements available at UOG via the Government’s Kickstart Scheme

The University of Gloucestershire is working with Gloucestershire County Council to offer Kickstart placements to young people aged 16-24 claiming Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

The paid work placements are designed to give young people the chance to gain real experience and develop their employability skills, with full training to help them develop and progress into full time paid jobs once their placement finishes.

Dr Matthew Andrews, University Secretary and Registrar, said:

“As a significant regional employer, with a broad range of roles covering many different activities, we’re pleased to be able to offer these placement opportunities to young people facing difficulties breaking into the job market.”

The University has signed up to offer eight placements in the first instance, four of which are being advertised now with the others following later in the year. All placements are paid, are for (at least) 25 hours per week, and last for six months.

We have a number of roles currently accepting applications:

We anticipate the following vacancies will be opening in the near future:

Placements through the University are supported by Gloucestershire County Council’s Adult Education and Forwards Employment teams.

If you, or anyone you know, are eligible please contact your Work Coach on your Universal Credit account who will be able to advise you on how to make an application.
