University shortlisted for four national customer service awards
The University of Gloucestershire has been recognised at a national level for its outstanding customer service.
The University has been selected as a finalist in four categories by an independent panel of judges from the WOW! Awards who recognise people who have gone the extra mile to provide outstanding service.
Director of Student Support at the University, Stewart Dove, has been selected as a finalist in the Leadership Award category whilst Faculty Administrator, Ian Cumiskey, is nominated for the Supporting the Front Line Award.
The University has also been selected for two organisation awards – Best Newcomer and Engaging Your Employees.
The news comes during a year in which the University has been nominated for Outstanding Student Services Team at the Times Higher Leadership and Management Awards 2015 (THELMAs) for the second year running, and achieved a top 10 place for Best Student Support in the What Uni Student Choice Awards.
The University joined the WOW! Awards in October 2014, giving students, staff and visitors the opportunity to nominate members of University staff who have gone that extra mile. The University is amongst many other organisations such as the NHS, police, local authorities and other education establishments that run the scheme.
Over the last year WOW! have rated thousands of nominations from many customers around the world, telling them how great the service is they have experienced. They have now selected the best nominations and placed them into 15 categories for this year’s finals.
Stewart Dove, Director of Student Support at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “For us to be selected as finalists in four categories in the first year is a real achievement. Instead of focusing on what employees do wrong, we are letting our students and staff tell us what we are doing right. One of the greatest surprises to come out of the WOW! Awards is that customers love to say ‘thank you’, it is motivational and encourages our employees to deliver customer service to a consistently high standard.”
Ian Cumiskey, Faculty Administrator, at the University of Gloucestershire, added: “I’m really surprised, I was not expecting it at all. It’s a real shock. Even though I’m just doing my job, it’s really nice to be recognised by my fellow staff members.”
The winners will be announced in November at a Gala awards ceremony in London.
