UoG graduate stages 12-hour comedy marathon for charity

A University of Gloucestershire graduate is preparing to take on a 12-hour improvised comedy marathon to raise money for a county charity supporting neurodivergent people and their families.

Eddie O’Keeffe, who graduated from the University’s Television Production programme in 2013, is the founder and chairman of Cheltenham-based improv comedy troupe Not A Cult Comedy.

On 20 September 2026, O’Keeffe and fellow performers will take to the stage at The Cheltenham Playhouse for a 12-hour improv marathon in aid of ND Hub Gloucestershire, with all profits from the event going to the charity.

ND Hub Gloucestershire supports neurodivergent children, adults and families across the county. Its work includes peer support led by neurodivergent facilitators, short breaks for disabled children and young people and their families, and guidance to help people navigate support systems, understand their rights and develop workplace skills.

The improv marathon will feature Not A Cult Comedy alongside guest performers Comic Sans Script and Edinburgh Festival Fringe award winners Box of Frogs.

Across the 12 hours, audiences can expect a mix of improvised short-form comedy games, scenes inspired by audience suggestions and musical numbers created entirely on the spot.

Eddie O’Keeffe said: “I loved my time at University of Gloucestershire. After graduating, I made Cheltenham my home and maintained my connection with the University by supporting University students on various projects.

“It means a lot to be able to put on an event in Cheltenham that brings people together, celebrates live performance and, most importantly, raises money for a brilliant local charity.”
