This course explores the complexities of education, inclusion and special educational needs (SEN), and prepares you to make a difference in the lives of children and young people. You’ll study a wide range of topics including barriers to learning, strategies for supporting diverse learners, and the policies that shape inclusive education.
Throughout the course, you’ll engage in projects and placements that connect theory with real-world practice.
You’ll explore current debates in education, develop critical thinking skills, and examine the role of educators in promoting inclusion and social justice.
Whether you want to work in schools, policy or advocacy, this course will provide you with the foundation for a meaningful career.

This course is taught through a combination of interactive lectures, seminars, workshops and placement experiences.
You’ll engage in small group seminars which encourage discussion and debate with your peers.
Assessment is predominantly coursework-based, using case studies, portfolios, presentations and research projects to evaluate your progress. While the majority of our assessments are designed to reflect real educational practice, a small number of exams are included to support the development of key academic skills such as critical thinking, reading efficiently and managing time effectively.

In order to study this course, offer holders will need to complete a satisfactory DBS and Health Clearance check.
This course is available with an additional integrated foundation year. This four year option has lower entry requirements – see below – than the other study type/s available.

We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants, although some entry requirements may still apply for Professionally Accredited Courses. We accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas and make offers on an individual basis.
