Graduate secures broadcasting role

Jack Windsor graduated from UoG in 2021 and is now employed by EMG UK.  He’s already found himself in at major sporting events and further describes his role.

“I am one of the newest members to join the audio department of EMG UK which one of the largest broadcasting production companies in the world. Our services provide Live TV coverage for most of the UK’s major sporting leagues and channel networks such as Rugby union, the 6 nations, Super League rugby, Champions league football, UEFA euros, BT Boxing, Darts and music festivals such as Glastonbury, Isle of white, Download, Reading and the BBC Proms. My responsibilities include microphone setups on pitch side, interview positions and setting up commentary positions. My job doesn’t just require me to be in the stadiums I am also given tasks in the TV broadcasting compound for example routing CAT-5 network cables between the broadcasting trucks (match and presenting) along with the communication between the cabins and PLP vans.”

This multi-task technical ability is a skillset that is developed through the broad range of modules and industry focused subjects that are on offer through BA Sound & Music Production. Working with specialist equipment and resources in and around all areas of music production and sound for media give you the strongest skillset for the jobs market.  We challenge our students to adapt and learn to new and emergent environments, Jack concludes on his role:

“It’s hard work but it pays off, the opportunity to play a part in broadcasting large venues and travelling around the UK and on venues overseas, is a massive adventure.”
