Back to stories listingA group of Journalism, Magazine Journalism and Sports Journalism students had the opportunity to travel to Milan in 2023.
Students visited Italy’s best-read newspaper, a café that is part of the Conde Nast empire, a giant Starbucks to meet a music and travel journalist, and the offices of a successful English language what’s on guide to the city.
There was also time to climb to the spectacular Duomo rooftop, tour the iconic San Siro stadium before watching AC Milan beat Atalanta there – and sample some gorgeous food.
The students worked on blogs, showreels and social media posts, and got a new understanding of their industry from experts in a different country and culture. They also had free time to explore and enjoy Milan’s nightlife.
There was plenty of discussion of SEO, of ChatGPT, of the balance between print and web – and of the enduring journalistic values of curiosity and determination.
