We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment that promotes wellbeing and success regardless of background. We believe that acts of violence, harassment or hate are unacceptable.
If current students have experienced an act of sexual misconduct, violence, harassment or hate, whether on campus, in halls or private residence, or in daily life, they can use an online reporting tool (which is accessible via the MyGlos Health and Wellbeing dashboard) to report an incident to Student Support colleagues. If they choose to report with contact details, a member of the Student Support team will get in touch with them to provide advice and support, and help them explore options.
Additionally, there is a separate online reporting tool available for students who are members of sports clubs and societies who wish to share concerns over any difficult behaviours/cultures that exist within their club or society.
Students can provide as much or as little information as they feel comfortable with on the form. Reports can be about an individual, a group of people, or a particular culture they’ve experienced at work, in lectures or at home. Allegations will be taken seriously, considered carefully and acted upon appropriately.
(Please note that if they choose to report anonymously, the University will be unable to take any action, nor provide any advice. However, the information will still be used to monitor issues across University of Gloucestershire).
Students may also choose to report to Student Centres or other specialist staff across the University. Whether students choose to report online or directly to a member of staff, the information is collected sensitively and treated with appropriate confidentiality.
These procedures should not stop or delay any report to the police. To report a crime in an emergency dial 999, for the reporting of non-emergency incidents dial 101 or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111
When a student reports an incident relating to harassment and/or sexual misconduct, the University has not, and will not, impose any non-disclosure restrictions upon them. We do, however, encourage students to access appropriate support regarding any incidents (as detailed below).
Staff can report instances of sexual misconduct or inappropriate behaviour using a reporting tool, which is available on Staffnet. If the staff member provides their contact details, they will be contacted by a member of the People team within two working days, to discuss the incident. The People team will retain secure and confidential notes of conversations and agreed actions, in line with data protection requirement. Staff can also choose to report anonymously, but this would limit the provision of support and advice available to them.
Members of the public can raise complaints about the behaviour of students using the Public Complaints Procedure. Reported incidents will follow standard University investigatory procedures.
