With top-spec facilities, this interdisciplinary hub provides a professional space where students can commission, collaborate and create together.

  • Film studio – fully soundproofed with low noise floor and silent air-con, this self-contained space features full lighting, flexible staging options and access to top-spec cameras.
  • Television studio – expanded and upgraded in 2017, this studio and gallery use JVC HD broadcast cameras, NewTek TriCaster systems to produce high-quality content, Doughty lighting grid, audio mixers, radio microphones and a talkback system between the studio and gallery.
  • Digital TV studio – this self-operated space provides a quick and straightforward way to create both offline and online HD content. Stream live directly from the studio via a dedicated Apple iMac. Autocue, vison mixing, graphics and sound levels are all controlled by the presenter/ director with iPad interfaces. You can also choose from three colour LEDs for ambient background lighting.
  • VFX Green screen studio – built in 2017, this space can be used for multimedia, animation and games design. The space includes bespoke LED Cloud lighting and dedicated iMac loaded with specialist VR/AR/IR software.
  • Recording studios – purpose-built for capturing live music, each studio features a main control room and live performance space with soundproofed windows. Professional editing software, mixing decks, piano, drum kit and microphones are featured in both spaces

  • Performance rehearsal rooms – the perfect space to rehearse and perform, each room has a 16-channel mixing desk, stage piano, guitar amps, drum kit, microphones and iMac with 8-channel audio interface.
  • News studio – with a gallery control room, green screen and presenting sofas – you’ll develop the skills you need for a career in broadcast television. Panasonic cameras, autocue teleprompters, a NewTek TriCaster mixer and lighting offer a professional setting for those behind the camera too.
  • Radio studios – present, produce and programme in these dedicated spaces complete with control room and live studio area. Whether you’re creating podcasts, streaming live music, or broadcasting the latest news, you’ll be able to produce high-quality content and prepare for industry.
  • Creative sound lab – this new audio lab, capable of achieving up to 22.2 surround sound with mounted speakers, allows for the creation of bespoke and immersive listening experiences.
  • Dubbing theatre & ADR vocal booth – built in 2018, this space is ideal for post-production editing and recording. From soundtracks to dialogue, you’ll be able to mix and experiment with sound using powerful Pro Tools software.

  • Voiceover recording studios – acoustically treated, these rooms feature professional editing software, audio interface, condenser microphones and a large script stand.
  • Offline editing suites – we have 15 suites available, all kitted out with 27-inch iMacs, external monitors and speakers, and the latest editing software.
  • DaVinci Resolve colour-grading suite – situated within a light-controlled, contrast-neutral environment, to help achieve the highest accuracy when grading your productions. The latest software accompanies top-spec monitors, speakers and a 4-panel colour grading control surface.
  • Animation studios – our industry-standard studios provide a professional space for students to develop skills in both 2D and 3D animation. With Mac suites, a green screen room and Wacom Cintiq touch screen tablets, you’ll be trained using the very latest techniques.
