Student Guide to Learning Analytics and Attendance

What is learning analytics?

Learning analytics brings together information about your course activity to help you and your tutors spot patterns, celebrate progress and offer timely support. It is used to enhance your learning experience and is not used for summative assessment or to take significant action about you without a person involved.

What data we use

• Your attendance at timetabled taught sessions. 
• Your use of Virtual Learning Environment resources and activities. 
• Your course assignment marks, as they become available.

We explain these data in your Student Privacy Notice and keep them under review as services evolve.  

Who sees your information

Your Personal Tutor and relevant teaching and support staff can see information for the students they support.

How we keep it safe

Data protection: we follow UK Data Protection legislation, use contracts with any third party processors, and review risks through a Data Protection Impact Assessment.
