New art and design in the spotlight

From fine art to photography, final year students at the University of Gloucestershire will be showing their work at this year’s School of Art and Design Degree Show.

The launch and exhibition will be held at the Hardwick Centre for Art and Photography in St Paul’s Road, Cheltenham, and following a private view on May 29, will continue until June 12. The annual exhibition is part of the university’s first ever Festival Fortnight, which showcases and celebrates the hard work and achievements of students with two weeks of events, most of which are free and open to the public.

Illustration, graphic design, landscape architecture and advertising and visual communications will all form part of the show. Students will be on hand throughout the exhibition, which will be open from 10am to 4pm daily from May 30, to show visitors around.

Nick Sargeant, Subject Group Leader for Design, said: “The Hardwick campus is hosting an amazing show of work from this year’s art and design graduates. Every studio has been transformed to give visitors, local schools and potential employers a great opportunity to meet our students and see their work at its best. The Art and Design Degree show has to be one of Cheltenham’s major annual events, it’s always stimulating and we look forward to welcoming visitors from all over the country.”
