At the British Universities Championship in Bedford, University of Gloucestershire student Graham Rush set a Cheltenham Harriers record to claim an impressive silver medal in the 10,000m race beating rivals from Oxford and Southampton universities.

Rugby – Womens
For the second year in a row, our Women’s Rugby Union team were crowned champions in the British Universities Rugby 7s Championships with wins over Loughborough, Exeter, Leeds Beckett, Newcastle and Cardiff Metropolitan in the earlier rounds before beating Edinburgh in the final game to claim the title. The win means that the University of Gloucestershire will represent Great Britain in the European Student 7s Championships to be held on the 12-15 July in Croatia.

Rugby – Mens

University of Gloucestershire rugby league players Bradley Kislingbury and Danny Fallon have been selected in the England Universities squad to take part in the Student Home Nations in Edinburgh.

England’s first game in the Home Nations will be against Ireland on Monday June 13 before they face hosts Scotland two days later and the tournament wraps up against Wales on Saturday June 18.

All matches will take place at Peffermill Playing Fields, Edinburgh University.

Shooting sports

University of Gloucestershire student Jess Allan has added to her recent medals with success in a national Under-19s clay pigeon shooting competition on April 23. She defended her British Schools and Young Shots Competition title from last year with a win in the ladies category with a score of 44/50.

Jess said: “I’m absolutely over to moon to have won it for a second year running. I’d like to say thanks to the University of Gloucestershire and their Elite Scholarship programme for their support.”
