My expertise straddles accounting and finance. I enjoy incorporating real-life statistics and research evidence into my teaching, and encouraging learning through an effective use of digital technologies.

Biography

I am a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the University’s School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences (BCSS). I joined the University in December 2022 and was previously a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Leeds from 2019 to 2022.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. My main areas of teaching are in data analytics, financial planning and forensic accounting. I have given lectures, seminars and workshops on these subjects at different levels of study. I have also taught on auditing, corporate finance and corporate governance, and supervised dissertation students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

My research interests are in financial reporting quality, employee ownership and knowledge economy. My latest publication concerned long-term determinants of financial fraud and scandals in the UK. I am currently working on a project examining the impact of bank branch closure in the UK. I am Vice Chair of the BCSS Early Career Researcher network, and organiser of the Discover and Discuss Research Seminar Series.
