Emma Butler

Senior Lecturer in Education

Early years is my passion. I am endlessly fascinated by how babies and young children make sense of their world and what our role is in this process. Graded an outstanding Early Years Teacher in 2015, it is now my privilege to lead the Early Childhood Studies course.

Biography

As a qualified teacher, I began my career working as an English teacher with VSO in St Lucia before returning to the UK and becoming Head of English. It was only after a career break, however, that I discovered the joy of working with younger children, and I have since become immersed in the early years. I qualified as an outstanding Early Years Teacher in 2015 and joined the early years lecturing team shortly after here at University of Gloucestershire to share my passion and expertise with students. Early Childhood Studies is a degree where passion meets purpose and it is an immense privilege to work with all of our students, supporting them in becoming not only knowledgeable and skilful professionals but also essential advocates for children and their families.
