I worked for 21 years in industry in post-production and as a sound designer on a wide range of documentaries and drama, for everyone from the BBC to HBO. My own practice includes sound art and experimental film which draws on poetry and found forms.

Teaching & Research

Fiona is Academic Subject leader for Film, Television and Animation. She teaches across Sound Design for Film and Television, Experimental Film Making, and Documentary.

My practice-based research centres on the interplay of poetics and the visual; with an interest in female portraiture and the use of the close up in experimental visual work. All my film work is mediated through sonic reduction and aims towards the aural/visual vanishing point.
