Fumio Obata writes stories and makes comic books and graphic novels. He has been specialising in sequential images since receiving his MA from Royal College of Art in London. He publishes with Jonathan Cape Random House, Gallimard Jeunesse in France, and Abrams Books in NYC, among other notable publishers. Originally from Japan he gains inspiration from cultural differences, social issues and historical events. He’s been teaching Illustration part-time at UOG since 2013 and predominantly sees himself as a pictorial storyteller.
