I am a registered general nurse and health care educator who has worked extensively within the NHS and higher education for the last 42 years.

Biography

I qualified as a nurse at Charing Cross Hospital London in 1983. After working clinically in acute care settings such as cardio-thoracic surgery, intensive care, general surgery, I entered the field of nurse education – initially as a practice teacher/instructor.

I have subsequently worked in a large variety of roles within and across various universities including course lead, curriculum manager, interprofessional education lead and external examiner.

My research interests lie in exploring interprofessional education.

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) – United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing and Midwifery (1983)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education / Registered Nurse Tutor – University of Wolverhampton / English National Board for Nursing (1989)
  • MA – Health Care Law and Ethics – University of Swansea (1992)
  • Ed.D. – Doctorate in Education – University of the West of England (2006)

Teaching

I teach on all areas of pre-registration nursing curriculum plus cross field interprofessional studies. I undertake postgraduate supervision of master’s students.
