My interests include student engagement, employability in the curriculum and creating opportunities that connect students with the world of work in meaningful ways.
I have a long-standing interest in the future world of work, shaped by a slightly unconventional career journey that has taken me from primary teaching, through finance, and into careers guidance. Since joining higher education in 2014, I have held a variety of roles within careers and employability, which means I have seen the work from most angles before stepping into a management role in 2025. This mix of experience gives me a practical and realistic perspective on student development — and a healthy appreciation that careers are rarely linear!
Outside of my role at the university, I also undertake freelance work, mainly supporting 16–18 year olds as they navigate their options after sixth form. I enjoy helping young people make sense of what can feel like a complex set of choices, and I particularly value creating space for honest, practical conversations about their next steps. I also enjoy public speaking on this topic, sharing insights and encouraging a more realistic and flexible approach to career decision-making.
