Royal Marines Commando turned energy engineer, turned PhD economist, turned academic – research interests in international business, international taxation, and tax haven FDI by multinational firms from emerging economies.
Biography
My route into academia was indirect. I served as a Royal Marines Commando in the British Military from 2002 – 2008, then worked as an engineer in the energy sector from 2008 – 2018 before returning to formal study. That path – military operations, then industry, then research – shapes how I read business and economic problems, and I teach from evidence and current data, as an academic would and as a decision-maker must.
