Previously Rachael was a Physical Education teaching working in secondary schools. Since transitioning into Higher Education, she has been able to link theory to practice, supporting schools and other sporting institutions to develop their inclusive practices. This experience allows her to share real life examples with students who are preparing for a career in Physical Education, physical activity or sport.

Rachael delivers on a variety of modules across programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level. These modules tend to focus on contemporary issues within sport or Physical Education. She has an interest in work around sociological theories and analysing the environments of sport and Physical Education. Additionally, she has a number of postgraduate research students on both PhD and Professional Doctorate programs.
Rachael has clear topics of research including: gender, homophobia, transphobia, trans gender issues in sport and concussion. She has a number of books, book chapters and journal articles that cover the broad range of her research. She uses her research to try and initiated positive change within sport, physical activity and Physical Education environments.
