Dr Richard Cooke

SL IN HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY

I am a quantitative health psychologist specialising in motivation and behaviour change in respect to health behaviours including alcohol consumption, dietary behaviours and screening attendance.

Biography

I joined University of Gloucestershire in 2026 having previously worked at Aston University, the University of Liverpool and the University of Staffordshire.

My research mainly focuses on understanding how psychological factors predict drinking behaviour in young adults (aged 18-30) in the UK. I also have international collaborations in Norway for adolescent drinking and Sweden for mid-life drinking.

I have also been part of interdisciplinary teams aiming to change dietary and screening attendance behaviour among patient populations.
