As Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Lead, I oversee primary and secondary teacher training courses. I lead our tutor teams to ensure high-quality, positive, and sustainable experiences for all students.
I am very proud to lead our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) courses and help shape the next generation of teachers working toward Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). My own career began in primary classrooms, where I worked as a teacher before moving into senior leadership as a Deputy Headteacher. In 2013, I transitioned into higher education and joined the primary education team here at the University of Gloucestershire (UoG).
In addition to my current leadership role, I was previously the course leader for the BEd (Hons) Primary Education with QTS course for several years. Primary mathematics is a real passion of mine; as an Accredited Professional Development Lead for the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM), I still love teaching maths modules to our undergraduates. Beyond my day-to-day responsibilities, I am involved in teacher development work for the GLOW Maths Hub, where I serve on the Strategic Board. I also work with students and schools across both primary and secondary phases, focusing on the practical, professional aspects of teaching and learning.
My role at UoG is wonderfully varied. In recognition of the breadth and impact of my work, I have been awarded a University Teaching Fellowship. The best part of my job is working alongside tutors and students, providing learning experiences that help develop students into confident professionals who share my enthusiasm for teaching. I love seeing our students step out as new teachers, ready to make a lasting, positive impact on children’s education and the future of our schools.
