I am an architect, Certified Passivhaus Designer and lecturer at University of Gloucestershire, where I have taught architecture and interior architecture for the past four years.
Alongside teaching, I am a Director of Habitat+ Architects, a small architectural practice specialising in contemporary, sustainable and low-energy design. I have over 23 years’ experience in architectural practice, with particular expertise in Passivhaus, building performance and the relationship between architectural design, structure, materials and construction.
My teaching draws on my experience in architectural practice, with an emphasis on connecting design thinking with the realities of structure, construction, materials and building performance.
I teach across architecture and interior architecture, encouraging students to explore technical and environmental considerations as an integral part of the design process. I particularly enjoy practical and experimental approaches to learning, using making, observation and testing to help students understand how buildings work and how technical decisions can shape architectural design.
I am a Director of Habitat+ Architects, a small architectural practice working across residential and education projects. My professional work focuses on sustainable, low-energy and contemporary architecture, with particular expertise in Passivhaus design and building performance.
I am particularly interested in how careful consideration of structure, materials, environmental performance and construction can contribute to better architectural design.
