I studied architecture and worked in architectural practice before pursuing an academic career. Prior to joining the University of Gloucestershire in 2022, I taught and researched for over twelve years – in architectural design, history, and theory; art history; and urban history and theory – at the University of Melbourne, Deakin University, and the University of New South Wales.
My teaching emphasises the propinquity of architectural design, history, and theory, and is undergirded by the belief that architects should be not just intuitive, but also informed.
I have been invited to lecture at institutions around the world, including in Australia, India, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom.
I am available for postgraduate research supervision in architectural design, history, and theory.
My research chiefly provokes intersections – of architectural representation and art, cultural, and social histories – in underrepresented groups and regions, and deploys counter-hegemonic and multinational approaches.
I regularly present my research at international conferences and symposia and have published extensively in my field.
