Rachel Llewellyn

Careers and Employability Officer

Located in the Careers and Employability team, I deliver a range of different workshops, lectures and events, both in-programme and stand-alone, to support students and graduates in their careers and employability journey.

Biography

Throughout my career, I have been driven by a strong commitment to helping people progress. Whether that is securing their first job role, advancing their existing career or bringing their projects to life – I thrive on seeing others flourish!

My experience spans the private, public and education sectors. I began my own career journey as a bookseller for Waterstones and then went on to be a Publishing Graduate Recruitment Consultant, supporting graduates into the publishing industry, before moving into academic publishing as a Project Editor, where I worked closely with academics to bring their work to publication. I have also worked for the arts charity, Cheltenham Festivals, securing funding for events that promoted the works of scientists and authors and then also as a trainer for the government-related data agency, HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency), supporting university staff to navigate complex data systems.

I have worked for over 7 years within the higher education sector and have held a range of roles at the University of Southampton, University of Bath, Hartpury University and now the University of Gloucestershire. These have included supporting PhD students through funding and administration processes, managing the delivery of knowledge exchange events and, most extensively, working in employability-focused positions.

This breadth of experience allows me to bring a cross-sector perspective to my work, allowing me to support all they different types of students I engage with in my role as a Careers and Employability Officer.
