Entry requirements
We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to work out what your qualifications match with in the UK education system, so the following country-specific information should help you decide which level of study is most appropriate for you.
Please note that some courses may require higher entry requirements than the basic requirements described below (higher minimum results, interview, portfolio, work experience, etc.).
Applicants are advised to also check individual course pages and to pay careful attention to the conditions stated in any offer letter they receive.

Direct Entry:
Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE): A minimum score of 3 in compulsory subjects and two electives with HKDSE Mathematics Compulsory minimum grade 3.– For courses requiring A Level equivalent Mathematics, applicants must have taken and attained a minimum score of 4 in ‘Extended Maths’.
– For BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, applicants must obtain a 4 in HKDSE Biology. HKDSE English is not accepted to meet the English language requirement; only IELTS 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in any component will be accepted. Applicants must present a strong personal statement clearly demonstrating an understanding of the chosen subject career path and the skills required. For those with higher level qualifications strong evidence of a significant amount of Biology content (e.g. anatomy, physiology, biomechanics) with good grades is required.
– International A Levels: Typically, 112 UCAS tariff points, e.g. grades BBC, with GCSE Maths & English grade C/4 (or equivalent)
– For BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, applicants must obtain 136 tariff points (e.g. AAB) at A Level including a grade B or above in Biology, Human Biology or PE and IELTS at 7.0 with no element below 6.5 in all sections of the test.
– International Baccalaureate (IB): Typically, minimum 26 points.
– For BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, applicants must obtain Higher Level Biology (with a min. grade 6) and IELTS at 7.0 with no element below 6.5 in all sections of the test.
Advanced Entry:
– Level 5 (year 2): Associate degree or Higher Diploma with a GPA of at least 2.5 out of 4.0– Level 6 (year 3): Associate degree or Higher Diploma with a GPA of at least 2.7 out of 4.0

Successful completion of a Bachelors degree with a minimum 2:2 lower second degree or with a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 or equivalent.

MRes applicants must have successfully completed a 3 or 4 year Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent. For Doctorate and PhD admission, applicants must have successfully completed a Masters degree with a good grade in a related subject field or hold relevant work experience. In addition, some programmes may require work experience and/or a strong portfolio of work. Applicants are expected to submit a research proposal.
