Your open day

This open day is all about you getting the best possible feeling for what it’s like to study at UoG.

Everyone’s here to help you with that, from lecturers and Accommodation, Admissions, Money Advice and Disability and Wellbeing, to the amazing team of student ambassadors.

Take the opportunity to talk to them all and get the inside information on life at UoG.

If there’s anything you need that’s not covered on this page, take a look at the FAQs where you’ll find supporting information about your day.

Make sure you visit the music stand for live performances throughout the day.

Campus tours

Book a campus tour, guided by a student ambassador, to see facilities, teaching areas, social spaces and examples of on-campus accommodation. You might also catch the outside broadcast (OB) van in action, with students demonstrating cutting-edge media capabilities on the lawn outside the main reception. Tours are a great way to get a feel for the campus with the opportunity to have your questions answered by someone who’s lived and studied on site. Running every 15 minutes from the Campus Tours stand located near check-in.

Student Ambassadors

Speak to these current students to hear first-hand what it’s like to study here. These UoG experts can also answer any questions you have about uni life and what it’s like to be a student in Gloucester and Cheltenham. They’ll give you the student’s eye view of how things really are, from how to make your loan last, to what time you have to get out of bed to make it to a 9.15am lecture.

Meet the lecturers

Lecturers will be on-hand and happy to chat to you about any aspects of studying at UoG. Take this opportunity to speak to them about anything, from your application journey to the types of modules that make up the course you’ll be studying. They’re the subject experts so if there’s anything course-related you need to know, they’ll be happy to help.

guaranteed accommodation

You’re guaranteed a place in university or partner managed halls of residence if you accept a place at UoG and apply for accommodation by 1 July 2024.

On-campus accommodation will be available to look around as part of a campus tour. Many of the student ambassadors will have lived in it themselves and will be able to provide a first-hand account of their experience.

Pittville Student Village has around 800 rooms, a regular bus service, 24/7 security, a gym, studio, laundry facilities, refectory, study-suite and social spaces.

The Accommodation team will be available to answer any questions you have. Find them in the atrium and get all the information you need about the range of accommodation options UoG has to offer.
