Understanding of role of a student in practice
By signing this document, I agree to adhere to the statements below:
- As a University of Gloucestershire student, I will ensure my uniform (if appropriate) is well presented, clean, ironed and not damaged. If my uniform should become damaged or not fit for purpose I will contact the University of Gloucestershire to arrange for a replacement to be ordered (this may incur a cost to the student).
- I will ensure that my hair is tied up at all times, piercings are kept to a minimum (1 plain stud in each ear), and fingernails are kept short and unpainted.
- I will ensure that I report any absence from practice to my placement area at the soonest possible opportunity and I will also inform the University of Gloucestershire via the agreed absence reporting procedure (available in practice document and Moodle) as soon as I am aware I will be absent.
- I understand that I will be expected to work shifts throughout my programme of study. These shifts will be issued by the placement area. If I am unable to work the allocated shifts, the clinical area is under no obligation to afford me additional time to make up lost hours, this will be arranged by the University of Gloucestershire in discussion with placement education leads.
- There can be variations in uniform policy between clinical areas and healthcare providers, if an issue is raised to me as a student in clinical practice I will acknowledge this and abide by any policy/change in policy that is highlighted.
- I will ensure that the values and standards stated in my professional code are upheld at all times.
