University of Gloucestershire on rise in National League Tables

The University of Gloucestershire has risen 11 places in TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk 2016, while its Student Support has been ranked seventh best in the country at the 2015 Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

The University is now in 80th place in the ranking of 126 institutions by TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk.

The table is based on ten measures: Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards, Student: Staff Ratio, Spending on Academic Services, Spending on Student Facilities, Good Honours degrees achieved; Graduate Prospects and Completion.

The University has also risen in a different league table, the annual Whatuni Student Choice ranking which is based on student reviews. Over the past 12 months more than 20,000 students have cast their opinions on their experience of studying at Universities across the UK. The University was rated 62nd in that list.

Of the 111 universities that met the criteria to be considered for a Student Choice Award, the University of Gloucestershire was rated seventh in the UK for the quality of Student Support services.

Student comments citing helpful and supportive lecturers, good communication, and exceptional provision of Helpzones and the Degreeplus initiative all contributed to clinching the University’s place at the Awards ceremony.

Stephen Marston, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire, said: “We are delighted to have risen in both league tables, and to have achieved such an endorsement from the Whatuni Student Choice Awards for our Student Support. The University is committed to giving our students a strong foundation for their future and helping them realise their potential. These rankings are a tribute to their achievements and to the skill and commitment of the University’s staff providing excellent teaching and a rich student experience.”

Speaking at the Whatuni Awards ceremony, Stewart Dove, Director of Student Support at University of Gloucestershire, said: “I am delighted that the University has been rated seventh in the country for Student Support. It is huge testament to the dedication of both our lecturers and support staff that the personal and academic support provided by the University to our students has been recognised as being amongst the best in the country at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

“Our students tell us that what makes the University of Gloucestershire special is our close-knit, supportive community, and the personal contact between staff and students.”
