Alongside his teaching he worked as part of an ESRC funded media analysis post Edward Snowden leaks which exposed government mass surveillance. Jonathan also worked on an AHRC collaborative research project with a Cardiff based community news website into how they could best engage their audience, and a BBC Trust funded project examining BBC impartiality in news coverage.
