Design

Don has been a designer for nearly 25 years, working on posters and campaigns for movies and TV shows including Moulin Rouge and Die Another Day. He is passionate about being creative and sharing that enthusiasm with my students.

Biography

Don has studied and worked in graphic design, illustration, advertising, marketing and communications and has worked internationally as a designer and educator. His doctorate on advertising and consumer behaviour theory, drew conceptually and directly on advertising practice in its investigation of the effects on advertisers and consumers at the same time. He is currently looking to support PhD candidates researching into graphic design, advertising, marketing and communications with an emphasis on PAR (Practice as Research) in Design.

Don is Academic Course Leader for Graphic Design and Visual Communication. He teaches the practice and theory of graphic design, advertising, marketing and marketing communications.

Research

My research interests include, practice in advertising, design, film and consmer behaviour, mixed research methodologies that explore the behaviour of actors in a technological consumer culture, and how people respond to consumer cultures. I am currently seeking PhD candidates to work with me in these areas and am happy to discuss potential projects, please contact me at dparker@glos.ac.uk.
