Your journey to join Team Glos starts with an online chat with an academic and the potential to have your offer upgraded to unconditional.
A chance to connect
Once you receive your offer from us, you’ll be invited to attend a meet the lecturer online chat with an academic from your chosen subject.
It’s an informal opportunity for us to meet you and find out more about why you want to study at UoG. It’s also your chance to ask any questions about the course.
If you’re applying for a course that requires submission of a portfolio, these online chats are your chance to receive one-to-one personalised feedback.
The Meet the Lecturer Chats are your chance to secure a place, regardless of your grades, as we may be able to upgrade your offer to make it unconditional if we see strong potential in you.
How to book your online chat
After you receive your offer, you’ll receive an email from our School of Arts Culture and Environment Team with a link to book a your chat at a time convenient to you.
Sessions are scheduled to take place on Wednesdays and will last up to 30 minutes. They will be hosted on Microsoft Teams.
Once you’ve booked your session, you’ll be sent a confirmation email telling you the name of the academic you’ll be meeting.
If you need to change the time or date, you can use a link in your confirmation email.
You can also book your Meet the Lecturer chat at one our on-campus Experience Days.
How to prepare for your meet the lecturer chat
Read your personal statement over again so you can be ready to discuss the details.
Have questions to hand to ask on the day – for instance do you want to know about career opportunities on the course, guest lecturers or how many hours of lecturers you might have each week?
If you’ve applied for a course which needs a portfolio, be ready to talk through the work you included.
Have notes on paper or on screen – you don’t need to try to do it all from memory.
Your academic will also want to ask you questions to find out more about you and your potential for the course. Example themes could be around:
your passion and interest for the subject,
your creative inspiration,
your views or opinions on trends or current affairs relating to your subject,
any skills or experience related to the subject you might want to tell us about.
