Biography

I have gained experience in a variety of diverse roles in secondary education in the South East. I have past experience as Head of Geography in both the state and private sector and still practice as a classroom Geography Teacher since beginning work in Higher Education as the Subject Lead for PGCE Secondary Geography. My school based work today also includes responsibilities for ECT induction and HPA and Oxbridge Coordinator.

Teaching & Research

Teaching

I am Module Tutor for PGS7000 – teaching, learning and pedagogical theory in the secondary curriculum. I continue to teach Geography for 11-18 Secondary, and I am an induction tutor for ECT’s.

Research

MEd thesis title: How do I engage my class in Geography? An investigation into teaching strategies to promote engagement in learning.

Interested in exploring the use of GIS within the classroom as a tool for teaching and learning within the geography curriculum.

External responsibilities

  • Associate examiner for AQA and Edexcel GCSE and A level Geography.
