After qualifying as a Learning Disability Nurse, I worked as a Specialist Nurse within a Team supporting adults with a Learning Disability who had complex mental health needs or complex behaviours which challenged. Following this, I worked within a Specialist Tier 3 CAMHS service, supporting children and young people with a Learning Disability, and their families. I have significant experience in working as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
I have been a Participation Champion and I am passionate about ensuring service users, their carers and families are a part of the Learning Disability Nursing programme.
I have been a Mentor for student Nurses for a number of years. I have taught at local colleges and other Institutions, about supporting individuals with a Learning Disability, the inequalities in our current health and social care services, and the vital role of the Learning Disability Nurse.

Learning Disabilities Nursing, particularly children and young people, Challenging Behaviour and Mental Health. I also have an interest in the health inequalities of individuals with a Learning Disability and how this is an important consideration in all areas of health and social care.
I have been fortunate enough to have spent time with services for people with a Learning Disability in Zagreb, Croatia, and have been able to see these services grow and develop each year.
My research interest is the health and social care inequalities for people with a Learning Disability. Key areas of interest include: physical and mental health needs; transition; Sex and Relationships; and the journey into parenthood.
I also have an interest in Participation and how clinical services can facilitate this.
