Dr. Louise Turner

Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise

Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences

My interests are in sport and exercise physiology and nutrition, with a particular focus on the cardiopulmonary response to exercise alongside training and nutritional interventions for performance, health and disease.

Biography

My teaching and research interests are in exercise physiology and nutrition and deliver on a range of modules in these areas. My specialist interests are in respiratory mechanics and respiratory muscle function/fatigue and how exercise training and dietary supplementation may improve cardiorespiratory function in performance, health and disease. More broadly, I also have research interests aligned to the physiological and nutritional demands of ultra-endurance exercise and pregnancy.

Research

My research focuses on the cardiopulmonary responses and limitations to exercise in performance, health and disease. Research explores exercise, training and nutritional interventions on airway airway health in these populations. More broadly, I also have research interests aligned to the physiological and nutritional demands of ultra-endurance exercise and pregnancy.
