Your interview
This interview is an opportunity for you to showcase your passion for teaching, your commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and your vision for the role you will play in shaping the future of education. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate resilience, creativity, and a genuine desire to support all learners in achieving their full potential.

Essential information

- A valid form of identity that includes a photograph, e.g. a passport or driver’s photocard licence.
- GCSE English, Mathematics and Science certificates (or equivalents).
- Certificates for your Level 3 qualifications, if you have already completed them.
- A completed and signed copy of the suitability declaration that was attached to your interview invite (Please note we need a written signature, not an electronic signature)
Your interview will be conducted online via Teams. You will be sent the relevant link to access your interview via email prior to the day. To access your interview, you will need to click on the link provided. Please ensure that you have downloaded the relevant application software i.e. Microsoft Teams or that you are able to access the software through your web browser.
Before your interview please allow plenty of time to become familiar with the software and on the day itself time to log in and be ready for your interview to start. We recommend logging on 5 minutes before your interview begins.
Task
Please choose a children’s book appropriate for a key stage 1 class to bring to your online interview. You will need to be prepared to read a short section of the book as you would to a class (2-3 minutes) and have a short discussion on your chosen book afterward with your interviewer. You should be prepared to discuss:
- Why you chose the book
- What specifically you envisage children will learn from engaging with you and the book in that way
Your individual interview
During the individual interview we will be assessing your communication skills, your understanding of the work of a teacher, your ability to realistically assess your potential, and to consider and explore your overall suitability for entry to teacher training. Therefore, we may also ask you questions about the information you have already provided with your application. You will also be given the opportunity to ask us any questions you may have.
