UoG Career Promise
At UoG we create a climate for bravery and growth. We instil confidence in all our students, so you can graduate career-ready and meet your ambitions.
96% of our graduates are in work or further study*, but if you’re not in a job 6 months after graduating we’ll guarantee you 6 months of free support, followed by the offer of a paid internship to kickstart your career – plus we’ll commit to lifetime career coaching. Eligibility conditions apply**
UoG Accommodation Promise
We know moving away to University can be daunting, and we want to make sure the process is as easy as possible.
We guarantee our first year students accommodation on, or near, the campus you’re studying at.
UoG Connections Promise
We have the connections to meet your ambitions.
With over 4,000 placements, internships and trips every year, plus more than 60 clubs and societies to join, you’ll find your people and your purpose here as part of our inclusive and global community.
The experiences you have and the people you meet will define your journey at uni and beyond.

“I gained the confidence to go outside my comfort zones. This allowed me to become the first female vice-captain of UoG’s American Football team and get an internship at St James’s Place.”

Frequently asked questions
We’re confident that our incredible students will be able to secure jobs soon after leaving University, not only due to the real-world experience and industry connections they gain on their course, but also due to our Your Future Plan (YFP) offering. This includes our professional mentoring programme and support to develop your career roadmap.
However, if you haven’t managed to secure paid experience 6 months after you’ve graduated, we’re still here to support you. If you contact the YFP Career Studio, a Career Coach will work with you to identify your motivations, explore options and support you into work or further study.
If you are unable to secure work or further study after working with a Career Coach consistently for 6 months, we will offer you a paid internship (minimum 4 weeks in duration, 22 hours per week) to enhance your career prospects further.
Gloucestershire is home to many employers, large and small. There are also a number of UoG alumni who can offer internship opportunities.
We have regular careers events where you can meet employers and we strongly encourage that you do so to increase your network and get a feel for what employers are looking for.
The internships will be for a minimum of 4 weeks in duration, for 22 hours per week.
Locations of internships will vary and every internship will be paid based on the National Living Wage.
As a current UoG student you are eligible for the Career Promise.
The Career Promise is available to all UoG graduates who meet all of the eligibility conditions, and who have a legal right to work in the UK.
Unfortunately, if you need a visa to work in the UK, we will not be able to offer an internship, but we would be happy to help you explore further study options.
If you decide your next step is a postgraduate qualification, we’ll support you to secure a place at University of Gloucestershire. As a UoG alumni you’re also entitled to a discount on your tuition fees.
In addition to the career promise, we are proud to offer lifetime career coaching to all of our graduates.
This means that any graduate at any point can contact the Career Studio to receive support from one of our Career Coaches or, if relevant, members of the wider Your Future Plan team.
“UoG does a great deal to give students employment opportunities. In the first 3 months of my course I went to two careers fairs where global companies presented career opportunities.”
Samuel Kofi Amoako – read his story.
