Festival Fortnight to showcase university
Running from June 1-15, events are taking place at all campuses in both Cheltenham and Gloucester, with a small number off site in the local area. With most events free of charge and open to the public, Festival Fortnight is an opportunity to enjoy what the university has to offer and find out more about the work of staff and students.
Key events include:
- Bioblitz: The university’s first Bioblitz event in partnership with The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust as part of the Chetlenham Science Festival. An event for all ages and a race against the clock to discover as many species of plants, animal and fungi as possible at The Park campus.
- Fashion Show: Presented in collaboration with Gloucestershire College and Art Couture Painswick, marking the return of the fashion design course.
- Dymock Conference: Celebrating the life and work of the Dymock Poets, New Numbers: New Approaches, includes access to the special collection of their work curated by the University, an innovative piece of drama and guided walks around the village.
- The first Chancellor’s Lecture: Professor Lord Peter Hennessy will be taking centre stage for his lecture ‘Writing the history of one’s own times’, introduced by the university’s Chancellor, Baroness Rennie Fritchie.
- The Degree Show: Graduating students from across the School of Art and Design come together at Hardwick campus to showcase their work in a final exhibition, including photography, fine art, graphic design, advertising, illustration, visual communication and landscape architecture.
