Film and Television graduates nominated for Royal Television Society awards

More than 40 University of Gloucestershire Film and Television Production graduates have been shortlisted for the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Students Awards 2022.

The annual awards by the RTS – an educational charity promoting the art and science of television – celebrate the wealth of talent, creativity and innovation of students in the region.

Four teams of recent Film Production graduates who studied at the University’s School of Creative Industries have been shortlisted for the Drama category:

Izzy Macmillan, Liz Cartwright, Tom Glover, Tom Allen, Jacob Seymour-Self, Nick Martin and AW Garner have been nominated for Signed Marlo.

Auke De Vries, Cameron Stolber, Josh Stone, Katie Woods, Elliot Cox, Morgan Hood, Eleri Povall-Jones are shortlisted for Tomorrow’s Dawn.

Josiah Bello, Katie Jackson, Chris Alvey, Felix Dennis and Nadin Moussa are in the running with Stage Fright.

Laura Jefferies, Lewis Mitchell, Will Harrison, Bleu Irvin, Meg McGregor, James Horsley and Macie Dell have been nominated for Darling Sons.

Five teams comprising recent Film Production and Television Production graduates who studied at the University’s School of Creative Industries have been shortlisted for the Comedy and Entertainment category:

Film Production graduates Liz Cartwright, Izzy Macmillan, Auke De Vries, Charlotte Curtis, Jacob Seymour-Self, Eleri Povall-Jones, Elliot Cox have been nominated for Afterlove.

Film Production graduates Amy Barnes, Sam Fabian Miller, Liam Pym, Lottie Brocklesby, Macie Dell, James Horsley and Hannah Huggins are in the running with Clamped.

Daniel Stearn, Imogen Maguire, Samantha Duffus, Josh Jenkins, Max Gummer and Matt Luxton – all Film Production graduates – have been nominated for Lower the Tone.

Also in the Comedy and Entertainment category, Television Production graduates Izzy Hart, Sam Allgood, Elliott Mann, Hannah Smith, Jack Edwards have been nominated for The Street Walker.

Charlie Woolf, Sophie Ratcliffe, Gus Hamilton and Rob Taylor – all Television graduates – are in the running for the same award with Mystery Match.

The winners of the RTS West of England Student Awards will be announced at a gala evening at the Everyman Cinema, Bristol, on Tuesday, 15 March (6.30pm-9pm).

Adam Batchelor, Senior Lecturer in Film Production in the University’s School of Creative Industries, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that so many of our former Film and Televisionstudents who graduated last year have been shortlisted for the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Students Awards 2022.

“The fact we have such a strong presence in these categories is testament to how hard our students have worked during a challenging couple of years as a result of the pandemic.”
