I work within the Insider threat team at BAE Systems
“I chose to study at the University of Gloucestershire due to the amazing location for the course with Cheltenham being a top UK location for Cyber Security.”
Harry is a Cyber and Computer Security student currently working on placement at BAE Systems.
“I work within the Insider Threat team where I analyse email traffic, monitor the use of removable media as well as printing traffic. I have to travel to different sites, such as Filton, Farnborough, London, Preston and Warton – sometimes allowing me to make use of the company jet.
During my time at uni so far, I have had many opportunities to do different things, from going to Las Vegas for DEFCON26, or exhibiting group projects at Cyber Security conventions such as CRESTCon. I’ve also been a course representative for the past two years and more recently worked with Dr Win to set up a university hacking team to take part in this year’s HackBack challenge.
My first couple of years at university have definitely helped me with the work I do on placement. The level 5 modules in particular helped me learn how to implement secure new network infrastructure as well as new software in order to make the tasks required by the Insider Threat team to be completed more efficiently and easily.”
