Lord Peter Hennessy to deliver University Chancellor’s Lecture

Professor Lord Peter Hennessy, Baron of Nympsfield, will be giving this year’s Chancellor’s Lecture at the University of Gloucestershire on Tuesday 2 June. Speaking at the Park Campus, Cheltenham, Lord Hennessy will be discussing ‘Writing the history of one’s own times’.

A respected historian, journalist and academic, Lord Hennessy has worked for The Times, Financial Times and the Economist among others, and was regular presenter of “Analysis” on BBC Radio 4. Appointed as Attlee Professor of Contemporary British History at Queen Mary, University of London, he was elevated to the House of Lords in 2010. He has authored several books, including “Never Again: Britain 1945-51”, “The Secret State”, “The Hidden Wiring: Unearthing the British Constitution”, and the award-winning “Having It So Good: Britain in the Fifties”.

With an introduction from the University’s Chancellor, Baroness Rennie Fritchie, this promises to be a fascinating and insightful evening in the company of one of the nation’s best regarded governmental historians. Tickets are free but booking is essential. Book your place online.
