Mothers Who Kill
As part of her investigation into feminism and motherhood, Charlotte undertook research between 2017 and 2022 into the representation in literature and popular media and culture of the controversial subject of mothers who kill and filicide.
Working with motherhood scholars from around the world, Charlotte’s research into this subject culminated in a book, which she co-edited with Canadian academic Josephine Savarese, called Mothers Who Kill. The book was published in 2022 by Demeter Press, a Canadian academic publisher specializing in motherhood studies. Charlotte has published widely on feminism, literature, and motherhood. She defines motherhood as socially and culturally constructed. A symposium is being planned to disseminate the research.
