Public exhibition to show development plans confirmed

The public are invited to view the University of Gloucestershire’s plans for its proposed Oxstalls/Plock Court development and Gloucestershire County Council’s plans for a residential and community sport development at Bishops College at a Public Exhibition on Wednesday 15 July between 4pm and 7pm at the University’s Oxstalls Campus.

It was announced back in March that the University is working in partnership with Gloucester City Council, Gloucestershire County Council, the GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and local sporting bodies to look at the redevelopment of this area of Longlevens, to benefit the community, the University and Gloucester. The University is proposing to move its Business School from Cheltenham to a new building at Oxstalls Campus to create an integrated Business School and Growth Hub supporting growth, prosperity and innovation in the City and the County.

Working closely with sporting bodies, including Aspire Sports & Cultural Trust which manages Oxstalls Sports Park, these plans also include investment in improved sports facilities across the Oxstalls Campus, Plock Court and the school playing fields on the former Bishops College site, which will be available for use by students and the local community.

Gloucestershire County Council is also proposing to redevelop the former Bishops College site for housing and community sport, with income generated from the sale of the site used to support key services, such as care for the elderly and repairing local roads.

The University intends to submit an outline planning application in August. Gloucestershire County Council will submit a separate application for the proposed residential development on the former Bishops College site.

Representatives from the University and its planning consultants West Waddy, Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire County Council will be at the public exhibition on 15 July to answer individual queries.
