Student receives award for TripAdvisor dissertation
Lucy-Anne Toth-Hedges, from Sutton Coldfield, has won the School of Leisure prize for Dissertation of the Year at the University of Gloucestershire.
The Hospitality Management student, who is now a trainee manager at Swinfen Hall Hotel in Lichfield, received the award from Head of the School of Leisure Jane Cantwell at her graduation ceremony at Gloucester Cathedral on November 20.
During her degree, Lucy did her 12 month work placement at Swinfen Hall Hotel and her current role includes organising events for high profile clients.
Her dissertation was based on the perception of TripAdvisor reviews from hotel managers.
“TripAdvisor and other consumer generated platforms are an increasing phenomenon,” she said: “which has be shown to effect the consumer decision making process. The lack of academic research on the hoteliers’ views of TripAdvisor made this an interesting topic area to look and research into. I was very surprised and privileged to receive this award and my friends, family and lecturers helped support me through my final year.
“I am really excited for graduation and to see how everyone is getting on!”
