Student TV Awards 2021 – multiple nominations for University of Gloucestershire students

The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced the nominees for the West of England 2021 Student Television Awards, and there are multiple nominations for University of Gloucestershire Film Production students. Formed in 1927, RTS is an educational charity promoting the art and science of television.

Mike Parker, Course Leader Film Production said:

“During 2020/2021 our students have had to adapt to the most challenging circumstances. Two of the nominated films were made during lockdown. We look forward to the awards evening!”

University of Gloucestershire students are nominated in three of the six Non-Scripted categories.

Nicole Georgiou, Dan Payne, Maya Belle, Jack Kelly and Aleksandra Borissova are nominated for ‘Behind the Post’.

Quinton Baker, John Aston, Kerris Cotterell, Joe Hunting and Conor Smyth are nominated for ‘Trans Happiness Is Real’.

The team said: “The Trans Happiness is Real team are incredibly happy to be nominated alongside a brilliant selection of films! It means a lot to be able to showcase LGBTQ+ stories on-screen and have it recognised by the Royal Television Society.”

Anna Mouzouri, Sofia Thorpe, Liv Morgan, Joe Hunting and Alexandra Borissova are nominated for ‘Yes Mistress!’

University of Gloucestershire students are nominated in all four of the Scripted categories.

Students George Stickley, Anastasija Pcelinceva, Ted Box, Millie Bennet, Brandon Thompson and Team are nominated for ‘Paper Round Boy’.

Students Joseph Walker, James Clements, Samuel Oxton, Jamal Springer-Lynch, Owen Jenkins and Team are nominated for ‘The Last Bank Robbery of Clive and Maude’.

The team said: “When we heard the news the entire Clive and Maude team was overjoyed and honoured to have our work recognised by the Royal Television Society, alongside the other fantastic filmmakers in the category!”

Students Joseph Walker, James Clements, Samuel Oxton, Lauren Mistretta, Joe Murphy and Team are nominated for ‘The Walker’.

The team said: “Unfortunately, stories about isolation have become more relevant since we made the film and we’d all prefer they weren’t, but we hope it can bring a small glimmer of light to those who might feel alone at the moment.”

George Glynn, Ellen GoldenSmith, Tom Hobson, Nirupama Rajendran, Owen Jenkins and Team are nominated for ‘There Was A Green Light’.
