University students popping up at Cheltenham Jazz Festival

Students from the University of Gloucestershire will be delivering a variety of pop up events on Monday 2 May at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Part of the Pop Up Project, activities to look out for include an allotment and mindfulness sessions in Montpellier Woods, and creative writing workshops and jazzy bag-making sessions on the bandstand.

The project has been developed by Events Management students at the university as part of one of their modules and will see nine unique events, each celebrating a different aspect of the university’s portfolio. From illustration undergraduates helping families decorate Wendy houses, and popular music students encouraging children to create musical instruments from household items, to an experience bench in Montpellier Gardens, there promises to be something for everybody attending the Jazz Festival on the bank holiday Monday.

Clair Greenaway, Course Leader for Events Management, said: “The Pop Up Project has been the focus of our partnership with Cheltenham Festivals this year, but more than that, it has created opportunities for collaborations between students across the university as they work together to create imaginative and intriguing interactive experiences for hundreds of Festival attendees to enjoy.”

The pop up events run from 11am until 5pm and also include cameo appearances from some university societies and photography students running a free photo booth with a range of jazz props.
